Go Invisible - Change your gmail chat status
This great web2.0 service has added a new features for their system and its really, really must use have features. Now, you can change your chat status to ‘invisible’. Same goes with your contact. Even they are sign in to gmail, but if they change their status to ‘invisible’, you can’t see them. If you didn’t want your contact interrupt your work then use this.

The built-in Google Talk client in Gmail has added an “Invisible” option to the status dialog, letting you appear offline or unavailable to other Gchat users, but able to see who’s online and start a conversation under the radar. The feature doesn’t appear to be available in Google Talk’s standalone client, and, in fact, signing into Talk will nix your stealthy status if you’ve got Gmail open simultaneously. Seems like a good way to keep distractions at bay (or at least be distracted only when you choose). The “Invisible” feature is only available to users of the new Gmail interface. For more chat-when-you-want-to control, check out a tool to auto-set your status to idle when busy.
If you simultaneously use Gmail Chat and any other flavor of Google Talk (the gadget or the desktop application), you won’t be able to change your status to invisible because they don’t support the new feature yet. The feature was first added to Gmail Chat because it’s the most used interface for Google Talk, but it’s unpardonable to have three separate interfaces with different features.
Note that feature is only available in the new version of Gmail, supported in Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2. I wonder if less people will disable Gmail Chat or the feature will become less useful.
